Meet Neil

  • I’ve been with PNC for 12 years.
  • I’m 42 and live with my husband Maks in Cleveland.
  • My health. I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, which means I need to make a lot of lifestyle adjustments. I know Castlight has some great articles and tips that can help me manage my lifestyle, and it promoted several diabetes and weight-loss programs available from PNC.
  • Seeing my physician and endocrinologist through my medical carrier, health coaching through GuidanceResources and joining a gym to help me manage my weight. Turns out just walking the dogs isn’t enough.
  • Switching medical options from Health Choice 2 to Health Choice 1.
  • Health Choice 1 (You + 1 Adult)
    • I’m switching to Health Choice 1 this year since I’ll be seeing my doctor more often and think we’ll benefit from the lower deductible and lower out-of-pocket maximum. I checked cost estimates for different types of care in Castlight and confirmed that we will probably hit the lower deductible this year.
    • I’m going to enroll in the Virta diabetes reversal program through my PNC medical coverage, which provides diabetes supplies, personalized support and may even help me reverse my type 2 diabetes. I want to give this program a try and get a handle on my condition by using a clinically-proven nutritional program that may help lower my A1c and possibly reduce my expenses for diabetes medications.
    • My husband Maks is a house painter. Because he’s an independent contractor and has no access to employer-sponsored insurance on his own, the working spouse contribution doesn’t apply for me.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA)
    • I’ve been contributing the maximum to my HSA for years and had been planning to use it for retiree health care since I didn’t need it until now. Since my diagnosis, though, I think I may need to tap into my HSA for some of my annual health care expenses.
    • I admit I haven’t participated in Living Well’s Wellness Rewards Program through Castlight yet, but I think now would be a good time to start. Maks can do the activities, too, and we can both focus on improving our health. Together we can earn up to $1,200 in my HSA. That’s serious money. I can even earn rewards for participating in health coaching and Virta!
    • Since I plan to download Castlight to earn Wellness Rewards, I’ll also check out the other features I’ve heard about, and I’m glad I’ll be able to track my health care expenses and access my doctor’s contact information and insurance card all in one place.
  • ISP 401(k)
    • I’m not a financial guy, so I use the professional investment advice PNC offers ISP 401(k) participants through Alight Financial Advisors. I took their advice and increased my ISP 401(k) contribution.
    • I like to use the “Project Your Retirement Income tool" in Pathfinder. It is good to see if I'm on track toward achieving my financial goals.
